Today, I get to share with you the story of Mary Grace and Elliot’s vintage wedding celebration. As a destination photographer, there are moments when you step into someone’s world and instantly feel the magic unfolding. Mary Grace and Elliot’s wedding was one of those moments—a blend of vintage charm, heartfelt connections, and creative energy that filled the air.
Mary Grace and Elliot were surrounded by the warmth of family, the elegance of vintage aesthetics, and the beauty of personalized craftsmanship.
Everything about their day had personal elements. Together, they own Studio Verus, a jewelry design company. The rings were woven with an intimacy that couldn’t be created by anyone else, making it a vintage wedding celebration.
The day in Birmingham, Alabama began with Mary Grace preparing in the cozy embrace of her home’s art studio. With her mother and sister beside her, the air buzzed with anticipation and joy. Mary Grace radiated elegance in her Devore Vintage dress, every intricate detail a testament to timeless beauty.
As we embarked on capturing the essence of their day, we couldn’t resist incorporating elements of their life and love into the frames. Mary Grace’s vintage Volvo and a classic truck stood as iconic symbols of their journey, while her two loyal dogs added an extra dose of love and spontaneity to the shots.
Meanwhile, Elliot got ready amidst the familiar surroundings of his parents’ house—a sanctuary of love and support. Each moment captured spoke volumes of the anticipation and excitement building up to their first look.
And oh, what a first look it was! Set against the lush backdrop of SHOPPE, a local greenhouse and plant shop in Birmingham, their reunion was nothing short of magical. As MG strolled through the streets, her elegance stretched all around her – even making the local gas station look stunning. When I travel to photograph an event, I get to see spaces for the first time. This allows me to bring a new look to everyday things.
The “everyday” surroundings like store fronts and street corners provided the perfect canvas for timeless and romantic photos.
After they exchanged rings, we all made our way to Juniper, a cozy and elegant cocktail bar and restaurant nestled in the heart of the beautiful Forest Park historic district. Every frame spoke of love in its purest form with friends and family. Poppy and Snail decorated the space with vibrant flowers. Capturing these moments with a mix of film and digital brought out the perfect colors and details of the day.
The vision that MG and Elliot had is what makes me so excited to be a mixed-media photographer. Photographing with film gives color and texture that can’t be matched by digital, while shooting digitally allows me to photograph all of the memories of your special day.
