Two years ago, I had the privilege of photographing a maternity session for Young family at Penton Farms. Penton Farms is a little, family-owned pumpkin patch right outside of Montgomery, Alabama. Little did I know that this pumpkin patch would become a yearly tradition for this soon-to-be family of four.

Fast forward, and here we are again, coming full circle as their twin boys run through the pumpkin patch. It’s incredible how time flies, but we are spending the day making new memories. As a traveling photographer, it warms my heart to be able to capture all the seasons of a family’s life. No matter where life takes me.

There is something profound about documenting life changes with photography, especially on 35mm film.. It allows us to pause at fleeting moments and turn them into tangible treasures that we can always revisit. And Penton Farms serves as the perfect backdrop for these priceless stories to unfold.

First, we started our session in the bright sunflower field and playing among the colorful flowers. It made for the cutest backdrop! Once we finished playing, we all walked down the road to pick out pumpkins to take home. While I was watching everyone pick out their favorite pumpkins, I thought about the last time we were at this same patch for their maternity session. It allowed us to recreate some of the photos I took two years ago. I felt so nostalgic.

As a photographer, it is an honor to be the storyteller, the curator of memories that speak to the nostalgic soul within us all. I hope you were able to wander the pumpkin patch this fall, capturing the treasured moments that will forever hold a special place in your hearts.
